Caricatures from photos make really memorable presents - for weddings, birthdays, leaving and retirement! They can be turned around in as little as a few days and delivered to you by post or email. Caricatures by Luke Warm range from a B&W A5 drawing of one person up to a detailed colour A2 group caricature of 30-40 people. The more photos and quirky personal details you can provide the better. All photos will be returned. Luke offers two approaches - B&W: acrylic ink and grey highlighter on 260gsm Bristol Board. - Colour: acrylic ink, watercolour and crayon on 300gsm watercolour paper. Caricature of Comedian Frank Carson comiisioned for his 80th birthday card and party posters in 2006 If required as well as sending you the hardcopy original, Luke can scan your caricature, resize and colour correct it as necessary and send it by email or on disk. If required Luke Warm can also mount and frame your caricature in a tasteful solid wood frame and arrange for it to be delivered to you by courier. (All framed caricatures are very securely packed but unfortunately no liability can be accepted for glass damaged in transit.) General conditions - Each caricature is drawn by hand by Luke Warm in his studio in Devon and is unique. - the quality of the drawing will relate directly to the number and quality of the photos you send. Ideally he needs at least 3-4 clear, happy photos of each person. The person's face is the most important aspect for the caricature and for guidance it really needs to measure at least 50mm high on your photos to give adequate amount of detail. Hats, sunglasses and cropped heads make it a lot more difficult! All photos and other details will be returned. - Luke Warm needs hardcopy photos on his drawing board to draw caricatures. He can work from photos sent by email but prices his work based on printed photos sent in the post. It takes time to download, sort through, print and add names to your photos - especially for large group drawings - and this eats into the drawing time you are paying for. - If you're sending photos printed at home please make sure they're on proper photographic paper. Please don't economise on this - the quality of your drawing will be directly related to the quality of the photos you send! - As a guide up to 5 people can be included on an A4 drawing, up to 15 on A3 and up to 35 on A2. But bear in mind the the more people in a given size drawing the less room for props and background details - trying to fit too many people into too small a drawing could mean it ends up looking a bit like a school photo! - Luke Warm has never yet missed an agreed deadline. Turnaround can be in a little as a couple of days though 2 weeks is usual. At busy times of the year (Christmas & summer holidays) it may be up to 3 weeks. - The main factors which determine the price are the number of people to be included in the drawing, whether it's to be in B&W or Colour, the size of the drawing (A4, A3, A2 etc) and what the caricature will be used for. - All caricatures must be paid for in full in advance including P&P by Paypal or cheque to 'Mark Nesbitt'. - Standard quoted prices are for caricatures for private display only. These are drawn in black acrylic ink and grey highlighter on 260gsm Bristol Board.   Colour Caricatures Adding colour gives caricatures warmth and fun. The line work on these drawings is again in acrylic ink but watercolour and crayon are then used on 300gsm watercolour paper.   Group Caricatures As a guide up to 5 people can be included on an A4 drawing, 15 on A3 and 35 on A2. But please bear in mind the more people on a given size of paper the less room for background details. Without allowing a bit of space for props and context they can end up looking a bit like school photos! Again , adding colour can bring the drawing alive. This family group of 17 people was drawn at A2 size to celebrate a 50th wedding anniversary. Large group caricatures are particularly popular with the military (Officer's, Warrant Officer's, Sergeant's Mess etc), but also are great for other groups. They build team spirit! Unique, individually hand finished signed copies can be provided so everyone has a memento. The B&W group caricature of 34 bandsmen above was commissioned by The Band and Bugles of the Rifles while the colour caricature of 25 cavalry below was commissioned by the Kings Royals Hussars. Both were drawn at A2 size in 2008.   Unique copies Unique B&W copies can be made of both colour and B&W orginals. This is particlarly useful when there is more than one person in the drawing. For instance this group caricature was drawn as a leaving present for Lloyds TSB manager, but B&W copies were provides so that everyone in the picture could have a mememto. Individually hand finished B&W copies are made by copying the black lines of a colour or B&W original onto good quiality white card before any colour or tone has been added. These copies are then individually highlighted, numbered and signed so that each copy is unique.
