Caricaturing on the spot as Entertainment

As well as being highly entertaining, caricatures drawn close up, as on the spot entertainment, are great mementos. Each one is signed by Luke Warm and dated with the location of the event and for corporate events he can even pre print your logo or strapline..so you'll see your corporate memento framed next time you visit your client's office!

Luke Warm recently won the 2017 Best Entertainment Award at the South West Wedding Awards - the 5th time he's won since 2009.

He usually starts by working standing, mingling with your guests and drawing one person at a time in permanent felt tip on A4 card.  While he's drawing one person there are generally 4 or 5 others watching and being entertained - so it's a great way to break the ice!  Each drawing takes about 5 minutes - check out this video on YouTube to see just how fast he really is!

He can work around diners and brings a small stool with him for this purpose.  Later on he usually moves to a small informal caricature studio area he's set up in advance with chairs, lights and banners to draw couples on A3 card.

He can also work digitally on a tablet.

We had fantastic day with Caricatures by Luke Warm at Lusty Glaze beech in Newquay. He was excellent entertaining the children whilst the speeches etc were carried out and did everyone a caricature to remember our special day. Fantastic service. 10/10

Luke was simply fantastic. We'd never met him before but we had no worries as he totally organised himself on arrival, introduced himself to some of my guests and effectively got the party started. Would definitely recommend him.

Brett & Sandy

A lovely addition to our wedding, perfectly fitting in with our vintage games entertainment and live band. The characatures were of a high quality and mark was friendly and professional, mingling with guests and getting lots of interest.

Mark was very professional from the very initial contact and sent through lots of information which was very helpful. The caricatures went down with our guests very well and the quality and realism is amazing. I would recommend Mark in a heartbeat.

Pamela

We are so pleased we hired Mark to entertain our guests. As a supplier he was very professional to deal with, quick to respond and flexible with our requests. Our guests thought he was wonderful and all the pictures were fantastic, he's clearly very skilled at what he does! We'd both be happy to recommend him in the future.

How many people can be drawn?

It takes about 5-6 minutes to draw each person with full bodies.  So in a typical 2-3 hour booking at a wedding or party you could expect 25-35 guests to be drawn.

In 6-8 hours at a trade show or exhibition it can be as many as 60-80 people drawn!

When is the best time?

The very best time for caricaturing is when guests are arriving at the start of the event - I then move quickly amongst the guests working standing and drawing people individually on A4.  This helps break the ice and get the event off to the best possible start.

Later on I can move to my mini studio area set up in advance with lights and banners and draw couples on A3.

How are the drawings done?

I draw in permanent black and grey felt tips on smooth 160gsm card which can be pre-printed with your logo or message.  I can work standing or sitting and bring a small stool for working around diners.  All drawings are signed and dated and provided for private display only.

A4 drawings are handed to guests in a manilla envelope; A3 drawings are rolled up in a rubber band.

What events are suitable?

Since starting in 1993 I've entertained as almost every kind of event - wedding receptions, office parties, birthday parties, leaving parties, retirement parties, Christmas parties, conferences, trade shows, race course Ladies Days, dinners, balls, school proms, charity events, barbeques, corporate events, product launches, seminars, workshops, military mess balls, on board trains and river cruises and even P&O's Caribbean cruises!

What do you need at the venue?

The key requirement is good light  - enough to comfortably read the small print in a newspaper.  For events with less light (candlelit dinners etc), I use my own lights and guests then need to come to my informal studio area to be drawn.

To set up my mini studio area I need access to a standard 13amp plug socket for my lights, the use of 3 armless dining chairs and a space of about 3m x 2m.  This is best set up in the swim of the party but not too close to the band or bar.

Where will you travel to?

I now mostly entertain in the westcountry - Devon, Cornwall, Somerset and Dorset - and in Bristol, Cardiff, London and Birmingham but am happy to travel further if required.

For you peace of mind I have £5 million in Public Liability Insurance - some of the larger venues now ask for this.

Can you draw outdoors?

Working outdoors is easily the best for light and can be ideal, but I do need protection from wind and rain.

What do you need to quote?

If you can please provide the date, location and nature of your event I'll be happy to give you a range of prices for different durations.

Luke Warm is based in North Devon so most of his on the spot work is in the West Country - Devon (Exeter, Plymouth, Torquay, Paignton, Barnstaple, Tiverton, Newton Abbot, Tavistock), Cornwall (Bodmin, Truro, Camborne, Redruth, St. Austell, Falmouth, Penzance, Newquay), Somerset (Taunton, Bath, Weston-super-Mare, Yeovil, Bridgwater, Wells, Glastonbury), Wiltshire (Trowbridge, Salisbury, Swindon, Chippenham, Devizes, Marlborough, Warminster), and Dorset (Dorchester, Poole, Weymouth, Sherborne, Wimborne Minster, Shaftesbury).  However from time to time he's tempted out of the sunny south west - often for conferences and events in South Wales, Birmingham or London.
