the ice?! Over the past 16 years Luke Warm has
drawn on the spot caricatures at almost every kind
of event and party from wedding receptions, office
parties, birthday parties, trade fairs, formal
dinners, ball's, barbeques, corporate events,
product launches, trade shows, exhibitions,
military balls, christmas parties, on board trains,
river cruises and even Caribbean cruises!
He can work
standing - mingling with your guests - or set up a
caricature corner with seats, lighting and banners.
Each caricature takes 5-6 minutes so 25-30 people
can be drawn in a typical performance of 2 1/2
hours.
On the spot
caricatures create a lasting impression. Each one
is signed and dated with the location of the event
and they can even be drawn on your own letterhead
(so you'll see your corporate memento framed next
time you visit your client's office!)

When standing
Luke draws people one at a time on A4 card and can
keep 4 or 5 more entertained at the same time. He
can work quickly round a drinks reception and this
kind of approach is particularly good for breaking
the ice at the start of a wedding or party.
Luke can
also bring lights and banners and set up
an informal caricature studio. When seated
he can draw couples and small groups on A3
card. He needs a space of about 2m x 3m
for this, the use of 3 armless chairs and
access to a standard domestic 13 amp plug
socket for his lights. It's not unusal for
a queue to form!

Typically
a combination of these approaches works
best. Luke sets up his lights and banners
in advance and then works standing drawing
one person at a time on A4 for the first
half of his performance. He then sits down
to draw couples and small groups on A3 or
A2 (and this often coincides with the
buffet or dinner).

By way of
helpful guidance the level of lighting he needs to
draw is what you would be comfortable with for
reading the small print in a newspaper - so that's
why he brings his lights to candlelit dinners and
discos!
Working outdoors
is fine - in fact natural daylight is the best
drawing light - however wind can make it difficult
and rain stops play. It's best not to site him to
close to the DJ or Band as he needs to be able to
hear and talk to your guests.
The only time that
caricaturing on the spot really doesn't work is
during speeches - as it's too distracting to the
guests. However Luke Warm has often entertained the
children at weddings at this time or taken a
pre-arranged break.

London, the NEC in Birmingham, The International
Riviera Centre in Torquay, Celtic Manor in Newport,
Exhibitions in Paignton etc
